Site-Specific Intervention, Part of Field Work “Artificial Islands from BBQ to FKK to OMV”, Donauinsel, Vienna, 2016
The Donauinsel represents an ideal starting point for questions regarding the proposed anthropocene, entailing the subject of humanity’s influences on its surroundings. The “Artificial Conglomerate” is a sediment of residue of current society. It consists of a mixture of old clothes and cement, poured into plastic containers, taking on their forms. Placed around a barbecue area on the Donauinsel, these pieces are barely distinguishable from real rocks. Only on second glance their artificiality becomes tangible.
